SUMMER SOLSTICE CELEBRATION JUNE 20, 2021

The Summer Solstice is also called Midsummer or Litha which is the longest day and shortest night of the year. It is a magical time for collecting herbs for healing, magic and faeries.

I love making herbal bouquets from my herb garden all year long but especially for the Summer Solstice celebration. I spend most of the morning collecting herbs using most for drying to use in my bottled charm necklaces, sachets, herbal bouquets and food. The herbal bouquets are a great way to decorate for the celebration along with fairy lights and a lot of flowers. We usually celebrate in the late afternoon with lots of fruits and vegetables, finger foods, rosemary bread, lemon cake, lemonade and champagne.

When the fire pit is lit I like to put my special Summer Solstice herbal blend in little packets so each person can throw the herbal blend into the fire for protection, peace, healing and attract faeries. Of course it also may make it possible to get a glimpse of a faerie or two! Since the Midsummer energies are very strong it is a good time to write on a piece of paper your desires and burn in the fire. Some examples you can choose from are: prosperity, healing, happiness, joy, creativity, and power to take advantage of these powerful energies.

What would the Summer Solstice be without some type of divination? I have a special tarot deck I use only during the Summer Solstice. Yes, it is a faery deck! Placing the cards in a sun circle with about 6 cards laying face down and reading them clockwise. No matter whether you choose tarot cards, runes, pendulums or many of the other divinations it is fun to do during the Summer Solstice! How do you celebrate the Summer Solstice?
